I've got an engine that has been sitting around for years, and I was wondering how to go about priming it and the turbos? I've read a bunch of posts, some say start it up, some say crank it over for a while with the ignition disabled, some say pull plugs and crank. Seems like pulling the plugs and cranking it might work okay.. I already did the timing and all other maintenance. I did the valve covers, and there was a bit of oil still on the cam lobes. I would assume there was a bit of oil still in the oil pump too. I was inspecting the turbos, and I think they are relatively dry. They spin, but don't feel lubricated. Should I pull the oil feed lines that go to the turbos and dump some oil in there before I drop this engine in? If I do, how long will it be till it runs back out of the turbo? I am just wondering how I should go about priming everything before I fired it up? Thanks!
